About AUSee
Our Mission
AUSee is a community-driven platform designed for university college students. Our mission is to provide a transparent, helpful, and student-centered space where students can share their experiences with courses, discuss academic topics, and make informed decisions about their education.
We believe in the power of collective knowledge and peer-to-peer support. By sharing reviews, insights, and engaging in meaningful discussions, students can help each other navigate their academic journey more effectively.
Key Features
Course Reviews
Read and write detailed reviews of courses at your university college. Each review includes:
- Overall course rating
- Detailed feedback on course content and structure
- Information about teachers and teaching quality
- The ability to filter reviews by year
Discussion Forum
Engage with fellow students in our topic-based discussion forum:
- Create and participate in discussions organized by topics
- Share insights, ask questions, and provide answers
- Sort posts by recency or popularity
- Comment on posts to continue the conversation
Decentralized Moderation System
What makes AUSee unique is our decentralized, community-based moderation system. Instead of relying solely on administrators to monitor content, we empower the community to collectively maintain the quality and integrity of the platform.
How Our Moderation Works
Our system is built on three key mechanisms:
1. Upvote/Downvote System
Every review and forum post can be upvoted or downvoted by users:
- Upvotes indicate that content is helpful, constructive, and valuable
- Downvotes indicate that content is unhelpful, inaccurate, or inappropriate
- Content is sorted based on net votes (upvotes minus downvotes), ensuring the most valuable contributions are more visible
- Posts with a significant negative score (10 more downvotes than upvotes) are automatically archived
2. Flagging System
Users can flag content that violates our community guidelines:
- Flag reviews, posts, or topics that contain inappropriate content, false information, spam, etc.
- When flagging, users provide a reason for the report
- Content that receives multiple flags (5 or more) is automatically archived
- For courses, only user-added courses can be reported - verified courses from the official curriculum cannot be flagged
3. Archiving System
Content that doesn't meet community standards is archived rather than deleted:
- Archived content is still visible to administrators and staff
- Regular users cannot see archived content
- Archiving preserves the record while protecting the community from inappropriate content
- Users cannot vote on or reply to archived content
